The recent purchase of a new, fully-integrated, sports-specific retail EPoS system has prompted Oxford United to review its hardware provision. Guided by its solutions partner Retail & Sports Systems, developer of the new software, the club went live in July in its onsite shop with modern touchscreen terminals from AURES Technologies.

Sales of merchandise represent a significant revenue stream for the club. Its shop stocks replica kit, training wear, clothes for all the family – baby, junior, women and men – plus headwear, equipment, gifts & souvenirs. Whilst iPads were previously used for retail transactions, it was decided to install a new fully-integrated till-based EPoS solution from Retail & Sports Systems.

In its wake, new EPoS hardware was a natural choice. “It was time to upgrade to more functional PC-based touchscreen terminals,” says Claire Theobald who is Head of Retail for the club. “The new system is brilliant.”

The selected terminal is AURES’ latest model, YUNO, which the club find both functional and good-looking. “The terminals are quiet, compact and sleek, plus we’ve opted to install a rear secondary screen which faces the customer. Not only does this clearly display what each shopper has spent but it’s also ideal for promotions and special offers and for running ads’ and videos.”

Claire Theobald and her sales team took to the YUNOs quickly. “Sign-on is secure, which is important in preventing till wastage and tracking anomalies. YUNO is quick and easy to operate; just what we need to keep queues short at our busiest sales times. We can tell we’re processing transactions more efficiently now.”

Another improvement noticed since installation is increased sales of shirt printing. The team put this down to having this option programmed automatically into the till, which makes it faster and easier to sell.

The YUNOs act not solely as a retail point-of-sale till; they are also fully-functioning PCs on which back-office tasks can be performed. The till can be configured to take telesales orders or sell matchday tickets.

The RSS solution provides comprehensive reporting, which is providing Claire and other managers with full product and sales visibility. “I can to monitor sales on a minute-by-minute basis if needed and produce off just the reports I want.”
“We are pleased with the new solution and are finding the YUNO very reliable. It wad a good choice all round,” Claire Theobald concludes.
